It wasn't enough that we had spec'd out the interactions - we had to comply, in detail, with the Cast design and user experience checklists.
I quickly decided that the best option available to make sure we were 100% in compliance was to copy the entire Cast website, and then replace, screen-by-screen every requirement that Google had made available.
Our goal at the time was to ship Cast as quickly as possible, and this approach ensure that we could hit every milestone knowing that the final product *should* pass through the review process easily.
With a lot of hard work from a great development team we were able to ship on-time, and without any pushback from Google.
Chromecast was an immediate success with our users, and laid the foundation for future integrations with Google Cast 4 Audio as well as our integration with Google Home.
